Powerful Storm - Thursday August 12th

A wicked and powerful storm blew through Camp Hanover Thursday evening, August 12th.  Fortunately the storm hit right at dinner time so all campers were safe in the dining hall.

God was certainly looking out for us as in the wake of the storm numerous large trees were knocked down, one of them resting on the roof of one of our longhouses and another totally destroying another longhouse.  Another large tree fell right across the front of our outdoor chapel, but in the middle of the destruction the cross remained standing (maybe a sermon illustration there!).  We feel blessed that no one was hurt and that it came with only two nights left in our summer camp season so we only had to house our displaced campers for two nights in other accommodations.

Now the task is to clean up and rebuild.  We need work crews to cut trees and split firewood and clear away debris.  We will need to replace the destroyed longhouse before next summer.  We hope that many of you will see this as an opportunity to organize a day of service for your outdoor ministry program.
