As Camp Hanover begins its next 50 years of ministry, what do you feel we must do in order to continue to provide quality Christian camping experiences for the children and youth of the 21st century? The following statements pertain to our summer residential camp goals and objectives. In the space provided, please let us know if you have seen or heard evidence that these goals have been met for your child; give specific examples where possible. If you feel we have not accomplished a particular goal, we hope you will let us know that, as well.

1. Campers are challenged to explore, grow in, and act on their Christian faith.
Examples might include daily prayer or discussion about worship experiences (devotions, vespers, group Bible study), etc.

2. Camper groups strive to build a Christ-centered community.
Evidence might include feeling emotionally and physically safe while at camp, affirmation of your child’s gifts, participation in group activities, etc.

3. Campers are encouraged to practice good stewardship of God’s creation.
Does your child show an increased awareness of or concern for nature, recycling, pollution control, for example?

4. Campers are taught a variety of outdoor living skills. Have you heard your child describing lessons learned about such things as how to build a campfire or cook over an open flame safely? For older children, what outdoor adventure skills they may have learned? Has the camper shown a greater willingness to try new activities or to risk failure in a safe place?

5. Campers will understand and practice servant leadership.
Evidence might include a willingness to take on leadership roles in school/church/family activities or an interest in social justice issues (i.e., poverty, hunger, oppression, civil rights, pollution), etc.

6. If your child received a Campership, kindly express your gratitude to those who helped your child come to camp. Those who made contributions will be blessed to hear what difference their gifts made.

Thank you for helping to make Camp Hanover a better place for your child and others to grow in their Christian faith. Call us (804-779-2811 or 877-OUR-CAMP toll-free) or email us at info@camphanover.org if you have anything about which you would like to talk further.
