A Place Apart…

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Jesus knew the importance of time away, apart from the constant blur of the everyday. Camp Hanover is one of those “quiet places.” Things are different here.

As the Outdoor Ministry of the Presbytery of the James, this is a place where Christ-centered community is nurtured. Where you can experience God’s presence in the natural world. And where central Virginians have a unique opportunity to gather in “a place apart.”

Come, your invitation awaits…

Keeping Advent “Wholly”

An Advent Retreat

November 6-7 at Camp Hanover

The Christmas season can be such ahectic time that we often lose sight of what’s really important, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Come away to the beauty and pecefulness of Camp Hanover for this event focused on keeping advent wholly focused on Christ.

Leaders: Rev. Jason Cashing and Rev. Dr. Tom Coye

Camp-Hanover-virginia-christian-summer-camp-CoyeJason Cashing is a native of the Western New York region (the pretty part of the state), but has been serving at Gregory Memorial in Prince George for the past two years. A graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, he is well-versed in the theories of outdoor ministry, pastoral ministry, bar ministry, and the reasons why Advent is what truly makes Christmas all the more meaningful (hint: it has nothing to do with a fir tree). He & his wife are kept by one cat for the time being, and they enjoy retreating to the mountains, the coast, and the historic areas of our region.

Tom Coye is the pastor of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia. Tom has a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. As a youth he was active in the Boy Scouts, church work, the school orchestra, football, and wrestling. Today, his range of hobbies include music of all kinds, movies, fitness activities (especially hiking), and computers. Tom’s enduring theme of ministry is the importance of service to God and people.

This retreat for adults begins with dinner at 6:00pm Friday evening and concludes by 4:00pm on Saturday.
The cost of $55/per person includes 3 meals, overnight lodging and all program materials.

“My daughter enjoyed her first time at camp. You did a great job looking over the campers when dangerous weather moved in.”
Father of a Middle School Camper
“I was so impressed with the personal manner in which my child and her needs were attended to from the very beginning. The counselors were wonderful!
Mother of an Elementary School Camper
“I can’t say enough about how good it was to see counselors playing with the campers, being silly with them in appropriate ways. Loved watching the counselors dive into the mud slide with the campers! Healthy, active, outdoors, silly when appropriate, listening when needed, this is the experience I want my children to have!”
