This summer at Camp Hanover, our theme is inspired by the beloved song “They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our Love.” Throughout the week, campers will explore a different verse of the song each day, discovering what it means to follow Jesus through love, community, service, and compassion.
Rather than simply learning about faith, campers will be invited to practice it. Through Bible study, worship, cabin conversations, games, service opportunities, and daily interactions, we’ll explore questions like:
- How do we care for one another?
- What does it mean to live in unity despite our differences?
- How can we show kindness and compassion in everyday moments?
- How do our actions reflect God’s love to the world?
Each day’s theme will connect to one verse of the song, helping campers see that faith is not just something we believe, but something we live. Our hope is that campers leave camp with a deeper understanding that the love of Christ is made visible through the way we treat others—and that, as the song reminds us, “they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”
At Camp Hanover, we believe that every act of kindness, every new friendship, every helping hand, and every moment of inclusion is an opportunity to share God’s love with the world.
They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love
Author: Peter Scholtes
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord;
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord;
And we pray that all unity will one day be restored.
Chorus: And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand;
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand;
And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land.
We will work with each other, we will work side by side;
We will work with each other, we will work side by side;
And we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride.
All praise to Creator, from whom all things come;
And all praise to Christ Jesus, God’s only Son.
And all praise to the Spirit who makes us one.
