During its October meeting, Camp Hanover’s Board recognized the service of outgoing board president Jennifer Gwyn. During her term, Jennifer’s leadership was instrumental in creating stability and growth for Camp Hanover.

Her service is even more meaningful when one considers two events that occurred during her presidency: Camp Hanover’s incorporation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2020.

Jennifer has served Camp Hanover through many leadership roles over the years. Her sons were campers throughout their childhoods.

“I’ve had the opportunity to experience firsthand the many ways this ministry blesses those that it serves,” Jennifer said about her history with Camp Hanover. “It’s hard to put into a few words what Camp does – and it’s far more than outdoor activities, s’mores and fun camp songs.”

In appreciation for her service, the Board dedicated a plaque to Jennifer at the meeting. Hanging in the conference room of Camp’s Welcome Center, the plaque is engraved with Jennifer’s favorite scripture, Matthew 22:37-39.

Jesus replied, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

We are grateful to Jennifer and glad that she continues to serve on the Camp Hanover Board into the future.
